Bio

Research Project:

I will be using techniques to extract RNA from lactating mouse liver and mammary tissue to study the effects of feeding certain Conjugated Linoleic Acids (CLA) on gene expression. A whole-genome (>30,000 genes) mouse oligonucleotide microarray (MEEBO) will be used. By evaluating expression in tissues from animals fed CLA with those fed a control diet we can see how these specific fatty acids affect the entire genome of the mouse.

Professional Interests:

As of now I am working on completing my Bachelors in Animal Science. After earning my undergraduate degree, I am not sure what I want to do. However, I am keeping my options open and looking into veterinary school as well as other types of graduate programs. I hope to expand my knowledge and experience by working with Dr. Loor in order to make a more educated decision regarding my career paths.
