Sean grew up in Glenwood, Illinois. He graduated from Bloom High School in 1998. He joined University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Animal Sciences in May 2002. For the past three years, he worked at the Swine Research Center at the University as a student employee. His duties included pig processing, breeding, feeding and general observation for health status. In addition, Sean worked as a research assistant in Dr. Mike Ellis’ Swine Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois. This past summer, Sean had an internship position at Iowa Select Farms, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. During his internship, he worked in breeding, farrowing, nursery, and finisher production phases. Also, he attended many seminars on pork production. Currently he is working as a Livestock Specialist which entails helping the Ph. D. and master’s students with their research projects, as well as carrying out research projects on his own. In addition, he is working on his masters focusing on swine production and management aspects. In future, Sean would like to continue doing research on a large swine operation or stay working for the University.
